You Have the Power - Use It, It's Free

It was this video of my senator Chuck Schumer that set my blood boiling. Apparently, he seems to have forgotten that those “little, tiny, yes, porky amendments” are being paid for by the chattering class he clearly disdains.

Schumer joins the rest of his arrogant colleagues in forgetting that we the people should have some say in how our money is spent. Does the phrase, “taxation without representation” ring a bell? Many of us have felt that Congress is more concerned about staying in power than with legislating in the public interest.

The good news is that our brilliant Founding Fathers forged a constitution that gives us the opportunity to vote out negligent politicians and next year our day will come. Nearly all the major political players in the country are up for reelection in 2010. Across the nation, powerful members of Congress will face the citizens in the polling booth and up until now, they have relied on their multi-million dollar campaign chests to thwart all opponents. They have been so successful at this process that many potential candidates feel powerless to confront them.

But we are not a banana republic. No one can tell us how to vote. We still have the secret ballot and if anyone tries to tell you different, they are breaking the law. Your precious vote cannot be bought. It is illegal to try and buy it.

I am a native New Yorker who believes that this is the greatest state in the nation but that it is being destroyed by corrupt politicians who only want to remain in power. We need new leadership in Albany and in our cities that will only be concerned with the needs of citizens. We need leadership that is unafraid and will not make deals that are detrimental to good and fair government. Cynics say that it doesn’t matter who’s in power. Voters will still keep them in by staying home and allowing corrupt dollars to keep the powerful in office.

This is ridiculous and unnecessary. You have the power to vote them out. This website will provide you with information that you will not receive in the mainstream news. You will also have the opportunity to learn about the brave candidates willing to go up against these incumbents who think you don’t care how your tax dollars are spent. We will provide links to these brave souls so you can read their positions on important issues and if possible, support them by volunteering and spreading the word about them.

We will also be giving you information about ensuring that you are properly registered to vote so that you will not be disenfranchised. Do not be fooled. Voter fraud tactics are a reality and illegal.

While ChangeNYin2010.com is concentrating on New York State candidates, there is an opportunity to alert your friends and relatives around the country that change is possible there as well. Tell them to go to http://www.votesmart.org and enter their zip code. Their representatives will be shown and clicking on their names will reveal when they’re up for reelection. Most of them are up next year. Americans can take back their government and it won’t cost them anything but their time.
